Three Ludhiana cops dismissed for raping minor

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three police persons behind Ludhiana DCP's residence.

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three police persons in a park in posh Civil Lines area in Ludhiana, police said on Saturday.

The policemen were arrested this morning and dismissed with immediate effect, DIG police, Ludhiana range Ishwar Singh said. They have been identified as Assistant Sub-inspector Inderjit Singh and two class IV employees Hari Om and Gurmail Singh.

The incident took place last night when the girl, hailing from Lucknow, went to meet her friend in the park just behind the Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner’s residence, they said.

According to an FIR registered in the civil lines police station, she was over powered by three police man deployed there on PCR duty and taken to a corner in the park. They forcibly took away the boy accompanying her, gagged him and allegedly raped the girl, the report said.

When an alarm was raised, the policemen managed to escape from the scene, while the girl was escorted to the DC’s residence by the people. SSP, Ludhiana R K Jaiswal said the medical examination of the victim has confirmed that she was raped.
