SONEPAT, Nov 25: Three dreaded criminals, said to be the members of an inter-state gang of highway robbers and dacoits, reportedly died and another injured seriously, when a Maruti car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck on the Gohana-Panipat road near Mundana village about 50 km from here last evening.

According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when all the four culprits were being chased by a police party after the exchange of fire in the Ganaur area. The police party was headed by Mahabir Singh, station house officer of the Rai police station in this district.

The victims have been identified as Naresh alias Boda of Pipli Khera village, Dharampal of Bulandpur Kheri village and Ashok of Khubru village. The injured criminal has been identified as Rampal of Khubru village and he was immediately hospitalised for treatment. All the criminals who were wanted in a number of dacoity, robbery and murder cases, had been evading arrest for the last few months.The police also claimed to have recovered a pistol and a live cartridge from the body of Naresh alias Boda.

, one 32-bore pistol and five cartridges from Ashok, a pistol and a kamanidar knife have been recovered from the possession of the injured Rampal and a case has been registered against him.

According to the police sources, the police party spotted the criminals when they were travelling in a Maruti car on Panchi road near Ganaur. When challenged, the crimals fired shots on the police party and the police parte returned the fire. The criminals, thereupon, drove away the car speedily in a bid to evade the arrest but the police party gave a hot chase to them. The car was driving by the culprit naresh, and it was struck with a truck near mundlana village. The truck driver took all of them to the civil hospital at gohana where three of them were declared dead by the doctors.
