VADODARA, Jan 17: With the seizure of 13 more country revolvers and pistols and 21 rounds of ammunition from robbers in Vadodara and Panchmahals districts recently, the number of weapons seized by the Vadodara District (rural) police in connection with the robbery in Khankharia village of Savli taluka have gone upto 24.

The latest seizure of weapons was made from Jhalod township of Panchmahals. While five weapons were seized from one Yunus alias Into Abdulsattar Dokila Ghanchi, the others were recovered from one A G Chaudhary. Both weapons and ammunition are valued at Rs 5,000.

Earlier, the Vadodara district (rural) police had seized five weapons from some persons in Rangpur area of the district.

District Superintendent of Vadodara District Police Shamsher Singh said that a total 24 weapons were seized so far, including six seized by the Madhya Pradesh police recently. More than 10 people have been arrested in the connection.

Singh said the arms racket in tribal belt of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh was unearthed following the arrest of the driver of the jeep in which robbers from Khankharia village were fleeing.
