NAGPUR, MARCH 10: Two brothers, who had stolen petrol from a vehicle to satisfy their craving for Chinese food, were arrested by the Police on Tuesday night after a hot chase. The police suspected them to be highway robbers wanted in a robbery that occurred near Hotel Pride on Wardha road some hours before. Their true identity was unfolded when the two brothers landed in the custody of Ambazari Police. The two brothers Mayur (18) and Mandar (19) told the cops that they had stolen petrol from a parked vehicle near Dharampeth, to purchase Chinese food. Both fled on their mobike when a patrolling vehicle of the police caught them red-handed. Mayur and Mandar are students of Dharampeth and Somalwar High Schools respectively. The drama began when all mobile units of the police were alerted to hunt for the suspected robbers who had fled after assaulting a person near Hotel Pride and looting cash. A mobile van of the Sitabuldi Police too joined the search. The van with armed policemen was passing by Anuradha Apartments in Shivaji Nagar, when the driver noticed two persons stealing petrol from a mobike parked in front of the apartments. When he challenged them, the two fled on a mobike. This raised suspicion of the driver, who raised an alarm on the wireless network and asked other police units to join the chase. Mobile vans of other police stations in the area joined the chase, so did DCP Sanjay Kumar and other officials. Mayur and Mandar accelerated their mobike to full throttle to escape from the clutches of the pursuing cops. The filmi-styled chase wastook place from Shivaji Nagar, to Bajaj Nagar, Kachipura, VIP Road to Amravati Road, before the fleeing twosome were cornered by other police units at Ravi Nagar Square. The two brothers slipped from their bike when attempting to save themselves from the heavy posse of policemen that was standing at the square. Leaving no opportunity, police swooped on Mayur and Mandar and rounded them up. Mayur and Mandar later told police that although their parents used to give them pocket money, it was not sufficient to buy Chinese food. It was this reason which drove them to steal petrol and ultimately land in the laps of the cops.
