For someone whose place in the team till yesterday was under a cloud, Shoaib Malik not only put up a stellar batting display today, but surprisingly came on to roll his arm over as well.

It’s not that Malik can’t bowl, but just that he wasn’t expected to, because he has been under the ICC scanner for suspect action. But Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul Haq still chose to give him a bowl.

“The umpires on the field can let him bowl. Neither the umpires nor the match referee objected in this case. Malik has worked on his action for some time and it is only because I think there is nothing wrong now, that I gave him the ball. I’m sure once the report comes, everything will be fine,” Inzamam said.

Asked about the possibility of Malik being reported again, Inzamam said: “I don’t think that will happen.”

The skipper was full of praise for Man-of-the-Match Rana Naved-ul Hassan.

“He has been consistent over the last year and today he was brilliant,” he said. As for the bowler himself, Naved credited his success to former Pakistani great Waqar Younis.

“He has been a great inspiration to me and has helped me a lot,” he said.

Naved rated Virender Sehwag’s wicket as the best of the lot in what he described as his best performance.

“Sehwag loves to cut and I decided to feed him there with fielders in place and he fell for it,” he said.
