NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 9: The Thailand police have confirmed that underworld don Chhota Rajan took the help of professional mountaineers to escape from Bangkok's Samitivej Hospital on November 24.Thailand's scientific crime detection division examined mountaineering rope and descender equipment and found scratches and traces of cement on them, which confirm that they were used in Rajan's getaway, Bangkok Post reported today. The results coroborate Rajan's escape story that he gave in the telephone interview with two Indian television channels on Thursday.Professionals helped Rajan slip down the 40 metre rope from the fourth floor of the hospital within minutes. The 13-mm rope had a breaking point of 200 kg.A man was also seen buying the rope and the equipment from a shop in a locality in Bangkok called Soi Rangnam, the paper reported.Deputy Commander of the division, Chuan Voravanich has forwarded these findings to Chief Investigator of Thonglor police station, Mantharn Abhaiwong. The paper said Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 5, Krisda Pankongchuen, had ordered investigations into a report that a number of police officers had visited Rajan at the hospital to receive money.Thailand's Prime minister Chuan Leekpai said yesterday that he believed the Indian mafia figure could not have escaped without help.``Obviously it would not have been possible for Rajan to escape if his helpers never stood to gain anything,'' he said.Meanwhile, the South Bangkok Criminal Court yesterday adjourned the case against three Pakistanis charged with attempting to kill Rajan until February six.The three suspects - Sher Khan (36), Muhamad Saleem (33), and Muhamad Yusouf (45) - were arrested after gunmen raided an apartment on Sukhumvit Soi 21 on september 15. The court adjourned after a defence lawyer said an interpreter he had requested from the Pakistani embassy was not yet available.
