Tension in Gaya, idols desecrated

For the third time in the past few months, tension flared up in Bihar’s Gaya district over desecration of the idols of Hindu gods.

Yesterday, some criminals vandalised and damaged the idols of Parvati and Shiva Linga in a temple at Gaya, police said. By today morning, residents of the area came to know of the incident and took to the streets to protest against the damage to the idols , they said.

‘‘There was a little bit of tension early in the morning but it is now under control,’’ SP (Gaya) Rabindran Shankaran said.
