Budding Telugu actress Bhargavi who shot to fame as the second heroine in the hit film Ashta Chamma was found dead beside her friend Praveen Kumar, also known as Bujji, an orchestra band singer. Police found their bodies lying on a couch in Bhargavi’s apartment at Banjara Hills on Tuesday morning.
Hailing from Guntur, Bhargavi had come to Hyderabad to become a star in Tollywood. However, she started her career as a TV anchor before debuting in a TV serial Ammamma.com. Praveen, who hails from Nellore, is already married but has been estranged from his wife.
Praveen Kumar owned the Sai Baba Orchestra Band and Bhargavi used to be a dancer when they came in contact in 2004. Inspector Siddique Iqbal, from Banjara Hills Police Station, said a suicide note was found on Praveen. “He has written that he and Bhargavi married in 2006 but have been living separately for a year. The note says Bhargavi started ignoring him after the success of Ashta Chamma and that he cannot live without her and so he was killing her and committing suicide,” said the Inspector.
Police said there were knife injuries all over Bhargavi’s body and that Praveen consumed cyanide pills after he killed her. Bhargavi had returned from her parental house in Guntur to Hyderabad only on Monday. She was the lead heroine in Holidays film being directed by S Mohan which is 50 per cent complete.
