Prasar Bharati Corporation and Zee Telefilms Ltd were today united in knocking at the doors of the Supreme Court, seeking redressal against the BCCI decision to award cricket telecast rights for the India-Australia series to Sony.

Prasar Bharati chief K.S. Sarma, who claimed his bid was higher than Sony, said: ‘‘We will challenge the decision today or on Monday’’.

Sarma’s comments came close on the heels of Zee TV, (which had submitted the highest bid) filing an application before the SC, seeking telecast rights and a direction to BCCI not to give coverage rights to Sony and TenSports.

The BCCI had announced last evening that it would arrange for live telecast of the matches, with Ten Sports producing the feed while Sony would telecast, distribute and market it. The series begins on October 6.
