TELCO has reportedly decided to temporarily withdraw all its officials from Bihar after some RJD men allegedly seized cars for RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav’s daughter’s wedding.

Sources said the decision came after the company decided to register an FIR against RJD men. Sixteen staff members left Patna on Saturday. Telco has temporarily closed down its office and local stockyard. ‘‘We have decided to shut down temporarily to ensure the safety of our staff after the FIR was lodged,’’ said a Telco official in Patna on condition of anonymity.

However, Telco spokesperson in Mumbai denied any such move to close down the company’s operations in Bihar. ‘‘There is no move by the company to close down either its offices or dealerships in Bihar,’’ official spokesman V. Krishnan said. ‘‘The offices were closed on Saturday for weekend and it has reopened today,’’ he added.

According to local dealers, 15 other cars have still not been returned to the showroom. Telco’s Kolkata and Mumbai offices were informed the day the cars were lifted and they filed a complaint with the Senior SP of Patna.

Today, Leader of Opposition Sushil Kumar Modi also reacted to the car-lifting by RJD men and asked Laloo to apologise to people in Bihar. ‘‘It is shocking that RJD men lifted vehicles, furniture, fruit and eatables for the wedding of the Chief Minister’s daughter,’’ Modi added.

Modi also demanded a CBI probe into the expenditure incurred during Laloo Yadav’s daughter’s wedding. ‘‘How can Laloo spend crores of rupees on the wedding when he claimed in court in the disproportionate assets case that his entire income in the past 20 years was no more than Rs 45 lakh.’’
