Family of the boy refused to accept the marriage
Two teenagers committed suicide by jumping in front of a Sealdah-bound Dankuni local train between Dakshineswar and Bali railway stations on Sunday night.
According to the police, Lakhi Naskar 17 and Soma Bhuinya 14, both residents of the railway colony at Dakshineswar, got married on Sunday evening, but decided to end their lives after the Naskar family refused to accept their marriage. While Soma was a class IX student, Lakhi was a school dropout.
Lakhi and Soma were engaged for the last two years and decided to tie the knot at the Dakshineswar temple on Sunday. But when Lakhi took his newly-wedded wife to his house, his father Swapan refused to accept the marriage saying that both were minors.
Lakhi8217;s father has admitted that he had scolded his son, following which, the couple left the house at 9 pm. According to D Chakraborty, investigation officer of Belur GRP, the bodies of the duo were discovered around 1 am.
8220;It was difficult to identify the bodies,8221; Chakraborty said. The bodies were later taken to Belur GRP where family members identified them.
