With four days left for the Olympics to begin in Athens, the Indian campaign has hit a new snag.

Team India’s doctors are yet to arrive and long-jumper Anju Bobby George, suffering from a severe sore throat, was forced to consult a Greek physician in the Games Village. He gave her strong antibiotics, which has made the Indian medal hope weak and lethargic.

It’s not just the possible side-effects that’s worrying, but the fear that a general physician can administer medicines bann-ed by the International Olympic Committee.

Sources said the Govt has cleared the doctors but they are yet to reach Athens. One of them is still trying to get his trip cleared by the Indian Olympic Association.
