The Tenkasi court, about 110 km from here, has received an unusual petition from a woman who wants the court to declare her a male, court officials said on Sunday. Uma Maheswari, a 17-year-old girl, was operated on by doctors, who changed her sex in 1999. Thereafter, she changed her name to ‘‘Uma Maheswaran’’.Uma would appear before a team of officers for examination, court officials said.
