No matter which way he looked at it, Taj Mahal, one of the most beautiful monuments of the world, failed to impress Chief Justice of India V.N. Khare.
Though he stayed there for an hour during his visit last week, Khare refrained from putting his comments down in the visitors’ book as VVIP guests customarily do. And while leaving, he commented to the guide that the Taj has lost its lustre.
Khare reached at about 7 pm when the sun had almost set. Besides, the sand rising from the construction work on the heritage corridor made the Taj appear lack-lustre, as Khare pointed out. He also noticed cracked tiles in the monument and enquired about their restoration only to be told the tiles are cracking due to pollution.
