The Taiwanese government’s statement that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had not died in a plane crash at Taihoku Airport has split the leader’s descendants in two camps and even compelled Forward Bloc to take on the Trinamool Congress.

The Trinamool has in its ranks former MP Krishna Bose, wife of Sisir Bose — Netaji’s nephew and one who had helped him escape from house-arrest in Kolkata during the freedom struggle. On the other hand, FB’s MP from Barasat is Sisir’s brother, Subrata Bose.

Immediately after the Taiwanese response, Krishna had said she and her husband disagreed with the findings. She reiterated the view that there was no doubt that Netaji had died in the plane crash on Taiwanese soil and on that date.

The Forward Bloc today said this statement was unwarranted and tried to reach a conclusion even as the Commission was adjudicating the matter. It said both Krishna and Sisir had stayed away from deposing before the Commission although other members of the family, like Subrata and Chitra Ghosh were cooperating with the Justice M.K. Mukherjee Commission probing the case.
