The swollen Ghaggar claimed one life at Kapuri village and threatened to swallow over 30 villages in the Patiala district as it continued to spill over its embankments following a 200-foot wide breach at Mahdoodan village near Kapuri. The worst-hit villages included those of Lachhru, Mehdoodan, Kami Kalan, Panjoli, Haripur, Haripur Jhuggian, Patlod, Bhathian, Balheri, Jogi Majra, Rampur, Daduan, Saunta, Kapuri, Kamalpur, Marrian, Kharpalan and Jhaleri. Columns of Army were out in full force in villages which had turned into giant pools. Many villages of Rajpura also found themselves marooned as waters of the SYL canal, which suffered an 80-foot breach near Dhakansu Nullah, came pouring in. The Ghaggar also breached near Rajpura inundating six villages.
