In a move to retain its share in the competing car market, Hyundai Motor India on Wednesday slashed Rs 19,000 off its popular hatchback Santro Xing, and introduced three new price-cut versions of its bread-and-butter car.
The Xing xk at Rs 3.27 lakh, is now priced Rs 19,000 lower, while the Xing xl is at Rs 3.46 lakh, about Rs 16,000 lower than before.
Three new variants of the Santro will replace three of the Xing’s five models.
The Santro xk, which will not ship with an AC, carries a price tag of Rs 2.79 lakh, up by Rs 7,794. Of the other two, Santro xk, is tagged at Rs 3.26 lakh, while Santro xl will cost Rs 3.45 lakh.
All three will have the latest 1.1 litre engine, better fuel efficiency, fresh interiors and lower maintenance and enhanced engine life, the company assured.
Only last month, Maruti had launched its Swift ‘world car’, at a Rs 3.87 lakh introductory start price.
