Two suspected NDFB bike lifters were severely beaten up by the public and handed over to police in lower Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district on Monday for allegedly attempting to steal a motorcycle to use in bomb blasts, official sources said.The two presumably from the National Democratic Front of Bodoland, which is suspected to be responsible for the October 30 last serial blasts in Assam, decamped with a parked motor-cycle of a person in Rangiya.The bike owner on telephoning some people in the direction the two were heading, the public intercepted them and beat them up seriously injuring them, the sources said.The two admitted that they had been acting on orders and that the motor-cycle could be used for planting bombs in it for future blasts.They, however, did not reveal the names of those assigning them for the purpose, the sources said.Identified as Kiran Basumatary and Anush Rabha from Pakribari, under Jamalpur police station in Baksa district, the two were sent to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital.So far six Pulsar motor-cycles, an Indica car and a Maruti 800, the kind of vehicles favoured by the militants for car bombs in the serial blasts, had been stolen from Rangiya in the last one month, the sources added.
