NOT too long ago, the rock on her finger made national headlines. It unleashed a carat-counting tizzy and a whodunit. But the lady just smiled enigmatically. Now she’s planning to rake it up again. Sushmita Sen, who loves to live like a star, has big plans to get her money’s worth and it has nothing to do with her forthcoming chick flick Paisa Vasool. The lady who just won herself a cool Rs 1.45 crore lets us in on money matters.

WILL WEAR
I’ve lost count of the clothes and shoes I’ve bought over the years. I buy them not because I need them, I just want them. People bequeath money or a house to their children, I will probably leave my clothes and shoes. I have the world’s best stuff. I’ve invested a lot of money in my indulgence. I buy from all over the world. If I’ve bought Gautier, Donna Karen and Versace from their original outlets then I’ve also bought stuff from Mumbai’s Fashion Street.

ROCK SHOCK
I’m not a very accessory person unless you mean diamonds. I’ve just ordered another diamond as my 28th birthday present. My present rock is 11.2 carat. The next one is almost double—21 carat. I don’t need a man to buy me diamonds. I want to put a line of inscription on my rings and leave them for my kids. These lines will be the five or six lessons that their mom has learnt in her lifetime.

BORN AGAIN BOOKWORM
I spend quite a lot on books because I started reading quite late in life. I didn’t even know what Archies and Tintin stood for, so forget about Mills & Boon or Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. A friend introduced me to books on self-improvement. I get all the answers that I am looking for in books and I must’ve spent a couple of lakhs on them.

DIVA’S DEN
I have a very beautiful home. Every nook and corner has been made by my sister Neelam and me. From the wiring to the paint to the bricks and even the mistakes, they are all ours. My sister was the accountant while I looked after the creative aspect. It’s a paisa friendly house. We were like, we are two middle class women and we can afford only this much and within a budget we bought stuff. I think having a roof over your head and the sky above it is better than having a man in your life.

BABY BUYS HERE
I’ve gone really overboard. Renée has stuff that would be enough for three kids. Now my sister is also adopting a baby so soon we’ll have two junkies. My daughter has a wardrobe full of clothes, bags, accessories. She has a Fall/Winter line too because sometimes she vacations with her nani in Switzerland.
