MUMBAI, APRIL 28: Encouraged by the success of the Jigar 2000 programme, the Shiv Udyog Sena (SUS), a wing of the Shiv Sena set up to tackle the problems of jobless youths, will organise a 10-day exhibition from May 1 to 10 in nine districts.

Industrialists, film stars, scientists, academicians and politicians had interacted with jobless youths as part of the Jigar 2000 programme in November 1998.

SUS president Raj Thackeray said special exhibitions have been organised at Nagpur, Amravati, Nasik, Kolhapur, Ratnagiri, Aurangabad, Nanded, Thane and Mumbai to guide jobless youths on self-employment and employment opportunities.

Besides former chief minister Manohar Joshi, Chief Minister Narayan Rane, Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde and Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray will address the function at Shivaji Park on May 10.

The 10-day programme proposes to provide financial assistance for self-employment to 650 youths. “From the Marathi play, Jaanta Raja

, we were able to collect Rs 50 lakh. We are proposing to sanction Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 to each of the 650 youths,” he said.

He said the SUS generated Rs 2.30 crore from the Lata Mangeshkar concert in 1997, which will be utilised for setting up SUS offices all over the State in a time-bound period.
