This is probably his last tour with the Indian team, so they got together to say a special goodbye to Andrew Leipus, the man responsible for keeping them in shape for the past five years. On Monday evening, after India had wrapped up the First Test, the team headed for an Indian restaurant here run by celebrated chef Sanjeev Kapoor, leaving Leipus, coach John Wright and trainer Greg King behind. About half an hour later, the team’s local manager Wasim Khan took the trio to the place, all along telling Leipus — King and Wright were in the know — they were going in search of an ‘‘Australian restaurant’’. Wasim had taken great care to keep the surprise alive, even asking the security detail to stay away from the restaurant. ‘‘We stopped by at the restaurant. Leipus asked me what we were doing and I said we’d just have a cup of coffee. He agreed and came upstairs,’’ recalled Khan. The moment they entered the restaurant there was a commotion, with every member of the Indian team shouting ‘‘surpriiiise’’. Leipus just couldn’t stop laughing as he looked at King and Wright. ‘‘Quite a surprise, quite a surprise,’’ Leipus told The Indian Express a few hours later, the laughter still ringing loud in the ears.
