Woman ends lifeThe Varachha police on Tuesday registered a case against a man, his parents and relatives after a married woman committed suicide by burning herself on Monday. The deceased's father complained to the Varachha police that his son-in-law, his parents and other relatives tortured his daughter mentally and physically which, according to him, was the reason behind her committing suicide. The police have begun interrogations of the accused after registering a case under section 498 (a) and 306 of the Indian Penal Code.Chain snatchedOhe Bhartiben Jagdishbhai Kantharia, a resident of Raviraj Apartments in Singanpore area of the city complained to the Katargam police when she was buying vegetables near Kantareshwar Mahadev temple in the area, a youth snatched her chain worth Rs 10,000 from her neck and escaped. The Katargam police have registered a case under section 379 of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating.Truck stolenThe Icchapore police have registered a case against a truck driver, who is absconding from the Reliance Industries Limited at Hazira with a truck (GJ 1 X 6912) loaded with yarn worth Rs 4.60 lakh from May 27. The driver Suryakant Babulal Tiwari, who was supposed to take the truck to Silvassa did not reach the destination and a complaint in this regard was filed by officials of the company at the police station on Tuesday.
