After a fortnight of closure, the management of Sukam Power System started production operations at its unit in Baddi today.
The management of the unit had suspended its production in the first week of this month owing to prevailing economic downturn, rendering over 200 workers workless. This was leading to apprehensions concerning the closure of the unit.
The management of the unit, on November 4, had pasted a notice on the premises and on the main gate to inform workers that owing to the economic crisis, it had decided to suspend all the production operations indefinitely. Though the management of the unit had suspended its production operations on October 31, it had asked its employees to mark their presence in the mornings despite there being no work for them in the unit.
The management had informed its over 200 employees that sudden decrease in sale of manufactured items and huge stock lying unsold had forced them to suspend the manufacturing operations.
Production manager of the company Vipul Jain said after witnessing a sharp decline in sale, the company’s chief executive officer, Kunwar Sachdev, chalked out a marketing strategy to capture the market. After getting overwhelming response and fresh orders, the production resumed today. The company is manufacturing over 1,500 power inverters everyday. Jain said though the company did not terminate the services of its workers, during the past fortnight about two dozen employees had tendered their resignations.
