CHENNAI, FEBRUARY 10: Five gold tiara were part of the jewels contained in the remaining two suitcases seized from the Poes Garden residence of former chief minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha which were opened in the Special Court-I on Wednesday.

The total value of the contents of five suitcases was placed at Rs 3.83 crore, of which diamonds alone accounted for Rs 2.74 crore. The value of gold was assessed at Rs 1.08 crore. In all, 27.589 kg of gold and diamond jewels were taken out from 136 jewel boxes.

The five tiara, marked as `material objects’ in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate wealth case, ranged between Rs 20,000 to Rs 70,000. While four of them were set with synthetic stones, one was in pure gold and weighed 133 grams.

Two gold swords – one about four feet long apparently presented by Jayalalitha’s three erstwhile cabinet colleagues and another about one-and-a-half feet were valued at Rs 4.38 lakh and Rs 79,360 respectively. The former weighed nearly one kg (975.5grams).

Among the ornaments produced were a gold necklace studded with 189 diamonds worth Rs 7.56 lakh and another necklace with 132 diamonds worth Rs 4.83 lakh. A pair of gold bracelet studded with 116 diamonds was valued at Rs 5.70 lakh while another bracelet with 62 diamonds was worth Rs 2.25 lakh. One pair of bangles with 68 diamonds was assessed at Rs 4.78 lakh. A synthetic stone studded necklace weighing 323 grams was worth Rs 1.05 lakh.

Among the collection were a gold `Kamakshi Villakku,’ a gold plate (worth Rs 37,200), a gold scepter weighing 191.62 grams, a two-leaves symbol and a solid gold mango among others.
