Suharto daughter ends stint as anchor

• BERLIN: A member of FIFA’s executive committee has admitted selling World Cup tickets at three times their face value and has been ordered to leave Germany as soon as possible, FIFA said on Saturday. Ismail Bhamjee of Botswana has signed a statement admitting selling 12 tickets for England’s match against Trinidad & Tobago on Thursday for 300 euros each, 200 euros more than the face value. He was told to resign from all FIFA World Cup duties.

Cech told referee not to book player

• COLOGNE: Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech tried to prevent Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan being booked for taking a penalty too soon by telling the referee a fan had fooled the striker by blowing a whistle in the stands. “That’s why he took the penalty because somebody blew the whistle,” Cech told reporters. He was not guilty for that (taking the penalty early) because somebody whistled him.” Gyan received the card anyway and will miss Ghana’s next match against the United States because of a previous booking.

Hargreaves ready to start for England

• BUHLERTAL: England midfielder Owen Hargreaves gave a broad hint on Sunday that he will start their final Group B game against Sweden. Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has indicated he will rest one or two of a trio of players who are a yellow card away from a suspension for the second round.
