Pawanraje Nimbalkar is in denial mode. At the Sawant Commission hearing today, Nimbalkar, the director of Osmanabad-based Terna Cooperative Sugar Factory, said the factory had no idea whether the sugar sent by it to Kolkata for export was sold elsewhere. Nimbalkar said he was not aware whether any factory employee had gone to Kolkata to unload sugar, which was to be sent to Regal Implex for export.Nimbalkar agreed the factory was supposed to unload it at Kolkata, and a transport receipt carried the name of the party that was to unload it as ‘self’. ‘‘The factory has no evidence of who unloaded the sugar in Kolkata. Nor is there any evidence to show that sugar was delivered to Regal Implex or that it was given to somebody else,’’ he said.He also pleaded ignorance when the lawyer asked him whether the person who unloaded the sugar made money by selling it in the market. Nimbalkar further said he was unaware if a factory employee was involved in irregularities, as has been found by CID during investigations. He said it was not true that factory employees and members of the board of directors were responsible for the irregularities.Nimbalkar further said he did not agree with government auditors that the factory had suffered a loss of Rs 53 lakh. He went on to say that he did not even remember lodging a complaint at the Dhoki police station against Patil for having abused his parents at his residence. He did say he tried questioning Patil, but added he did not remember what he asked.
