VADODARA, June 8: A section of students of the Maharaja Sayaji University burnt admission forms of the Commerce faculty on Monday to protest against the decision of the Syndicate not to allow ATKT students to appear for the final year examinations.

The MSU Syndicate had ruled that those students who had secured ATKT in their first year will have to first clear it before appearing for the third year examinations.

This rule, it may be noted, is already prevalent in the science faculty, hence the syndicate decided that the system be implemented in the faculty of Arts and Commerce also. The students, on the other hand, are demanding that the rule be put into practise from the next year, and students be spared this year.

The students union pointed out that if the rule was implemented with immediate effect then it would affect the career of students who would now have to wait till October, when the ATKT examinations would be held.

Meanwhile, another section of the students’ union has claimed that the Faculty of Technology and Engineering had stopped distributing admission forms from June 2 even though final year science results were yet to be declared. They have submitted a memorandum to Registrar D P Chhaya in the context.
