UNITED NATIONS, JAN 9: In a parting shot, US Ambassador Richard Holbrooke has warned the UN Security Council and General Assembly not to pour “kerosene on the fire” by inserting themselves into the West Asia conflict.

“When West Asia comes into the UN General Assembly or the Security Council, it works to the detriment of both the issue and the institution,” he said in an interview, two weeks before his 17-month stint as chief envoy ends on January 21.
