Stop being childish, BJP tells Rahul Gandhi

“The young leaders across the party lines who have talked to him have been supportive of the deal. I have talked to many young leaders across the parties. They support the deal and are convinced about it. They say they don’t understand why their leadership is opposed to it,” he added.

The Congress general secretary further said “And when we explain the deal to them they say it’s absolutely crystal clear, you are right. So, inside some of these organisations also there is a feeling that the direction is only political. It is not only Rahul Gandhi but every young person in the country is bound to support the deal because it is going to change the future face of the country,” Gandhi said playing the youth card.

Gandhi’s remarks quickly evoked sharp condemnation from BJP when its Spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said in New Delhi “Rahul Gandhi should stop daydreaming and stop being childish. Instead of hallucinating on the present political situation, he (Gandhi) should name the young political MPs,” Rudy added.

Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said even if there are differences within the BJP it was an internal matter and not for the Congress to make any pronouncements. Sinha also accused the Congress and the PMO of directly “spreading disinformation.”
