MUMBAI, February 16: The State Government has reserved nine out of the 29 posts of Zilla Parishad (ZP) chairperson in the state for women.

Minister of Rural Development, Tukaram Dighole today picked the draw in presence of Rural Development Secretary Prabhakar Karandikar and Women and Children Welfare Secretary T F Thekekara.

These reservations will have a term of one year starting March 21, 1998. These reservation s are based on the percentage representation of the backward community in the respective districts as registered by the 1991 census.
