INDORE, SEPT 11: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has donated Rs 10 lakh for the construction of an auditorium in memory of renowned singer Lata Mangeshkar’s mother Mai Mangeshkar.

“This innovative step of Marathi society in Indore would help a lot in conserving Marathi literature, art and culture”, he said at the foundation laying ceremony of the auditorium here on Sunday.

About construction of Mai Mangeshkar auditorium at Indore, he said “it is the birthplace of Lata Mangeshkar and the year also marks birth centernary of Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar”.

Referring to Union Minister of state for women and child development Sumitra Mahajan’s suggestion that Maharashtra Government create a separate cell to interact with Marathi speaking people living elsewhere in the country and world, he said it will be implemented soon.

Madhya Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister Subhash Sojatia assured all cooperation in the construction of auditorium.
