Kishor Purshottam Patel, prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp-paper racket, who had escaped from CBI custody late on Thursday, was arrested in Amreli district on Saturday morning.

Patel, 38, had fled his residence at Bapunagar in the city on Thursday night with the help of his wife Falguni, when a CBI team had taken him there for recovery of fake stamps.

After Patel escaped, police sounded an alert. One team was sent to his native village Tarvada in Amreli district, said the police. The team, which reached Tarvada on Friday afternoon, conducted inquiries and also informed local police as well as the Local Crime Branch of the Amreli district police about the fugitive. Meanwhile, the police were informed by an informant that Patel had been seen around the village on Friday morning.
