NEW DELHI, January 17: St Stephen’s College defeated Sri Ram College of Commerce 3-0 in the inter-college men’s tennis tournament final to win the title for the second straight year here.

Ramjas scored an upset 3-1 win over Hindu College to finish third. It was after a gap of 12 years that Ramjas College had clinched the third spot in the inter-college competition. Desh Gaurav Sekhri, Rahul Giri won their singles and then Giri and Sekhri paired to win the doubles.

Results (final): St Stephen’s bt SRCC 3-0 (Desh Gaurav Sekhri bt Gautam Rishi 6-4, 6-2; Rahul Giri bt Abhishek Gupta 3-6, 6-4, 6-3; Desh Gaurav and Rahul Giri bt Gautam Rishi and Priyanuj Lakhar 6-7 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.

For 3rd place: Ramjas bt Hindu College 3-1 (Rajeev Kapoor lost to Nisheet 7-5, 2-6, 4-6; Nitin Verma bt Rahshit 6-0, 6-0; Rajeev and Nitin bt Nisheet and Rakshit 6-4, 6-1; Nitin bt Nisheet 6-2, 6-2).
