NEW DELHI, November 11: Sat Guru Partap Singh Academy, Ludhiana, and St Ignatius High School, Gumla, entered the semi-finals of the 17 Nehru sub-junior hockey tournament. The other teams that have qualified for semis are Lyallpur Khalsa Sr Sec School, Jalandhar, and Birsamunda Vidyapitha, Rourkela. Tomorrow, Ludhiana boys clash with Birsamunda while Lyallpur Khalsa team take on St Ignatius.Today, Gumla boys defeated Shivalik High School, Chandigarh, 3-1 with all three goals coming in second half. Chandigarh boys were the ones to take the lead through a penalty conversion by Damandeep Singh in ninth minute.Equaliser for the Gumla team came in 46th minute through a field goal by Sugan Nayak. Nayak made it 2-1 a minute later. Xavier Jojo penalty corner conversion in 51th minute sealed the fate of Chandigarh team.The Amritsar team defeated CRZ Sr Sec School, Sonepat, 4-1. Gurpreet Singh struck twice and Ajaypal Singh and Gurcharan Singh once for the winners. For the Sonepat team the lone goal was scored by Satish Gulia.
