
CHANDIGARH, JAN 19: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed recovery of petition costs of Rs 10,000 from the Ferozepur Senior Superintendent of Police and Ferozepur sub-division DSP, in a case of alleged victimisation and harassment of a sub-inspector.
Allowing the petition of Baldev Singh, sub-inspector of Ferozepur Police, a division bench of the court comprising Justice V.K. Bali and Justice B. Rai has directed that the respondent SSP and DSP equally share the cost of the petition quantified at Rs 10,000, for reasons to be recorded later.
The petitioner had alleged that he was being victimised by the respondents for not having obliged the district police authorities in withdrawing a criminal case against Gurjant Singh in a land dispute. After having been accused of misusing his authority in a land dispute case, the petitioner had earlier been suspended. He had in the petition prayed that he be saved from harassment and alleged victimisation. Detailed orders in the case have, however, not yet been given.
