MUMBAI, July 15: Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi today reiterated that the Srikrishna Commission report would be tabled along with the Action Taken Report (ATR) during the monsoon session of the State Legislature beginning July 20."We have decided to table the report along with the ATR in the monsoon session," Joshi told mediapersons at a meet-the-press programme organised by the Mantralaya Reporters' Association. A date had also been fixed, Joshi said but refused to disclose it.The budget session of the state Legislature held in March had witnessed noisy scenes right through the five-week period as a result of the alliance government's failure to table the report."Since we are tabling the report, I think it will be a smooth session for the alliance government," Joshi remarked.Joshi said he, along with Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde, would call on Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Union Home Minister L K Advani to discuss pending demands. Besides the renaming of airports afterShivaji and JRD Tata, a discussion on measures to arrest the spiralling prices of essential commodities was also on the agenda, Joshi added.Joshi said his government was planning to submit a comprehensive scheme on stabilising the prices of essential commodities and some vegetables. "At our end, my government has already stabilised prices of five essential commodities and we are also planning to provide onions and potatoes at a fixed rate. But we need support of the Centre for the purpose," Joshi said.Referring to the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Comission, Joshi said though the government was committed to implementing the revised pay scales, it was of the opinion that the Centre should share part of the monetary burden. On the new bills, Joshi said the Bill to amend the Rent Control Act would also be introduced. "The report of the Joint Select Committee has been received and therefore it should not be difficult to bring in the new legislation to protect the interests of the tenants in themetropolis," he said.Bills to convert the four ordinances - Maharashtra Pre-School (Regulation of Admission), Taxation, Health Sciences University and Entertainment - will also be introduced during the session. Four new bills - amendment of the Criminal Procedure Code, establishment of the Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation, amendment of the Marriage Registration Act and the Appropriation Bill - are also slated for introduction.Munde, who was present at the meeting, said they would not discuss the law and order situation in the state with the Union Home Minister. "It is not on our agenda," he said.Munde, who also holds the Home portfolio, said the alliance government had sought financial assistance from the Centre for modernisation of the police force and the creation of additional districts for the Railway police network. At the moment, there are just three districts - Pune, Nagpur and Aurangabad - for the Railway police, but new districts were essential for maintainanceof law and order in railway areas, Munde added.Referring to the controversial Sahara Hill station project, the Deputy Chief Minister said Additional Director General of Police (CID) M N Singh had been appointed to probe the alleged nexus of some of the landholders with criminals. "All the landholders are from Uttar Pradesh. Singh has examined all the documents and is also in touch with the Uttar Pradesh police. He will submit his report within a month," Munde added.
