After missing out on the recently concluded tri-nation series in Bangladesh due to injury, fast bowler S Sreesanth was today ruled out of the Asia Cup, which gets underway in Pakistan from June 24. Sreesanth had picked up a niggling strain on his left side during the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) closing phase, and hasn’t been able to recover fully. The board is yet to name a replacement for Sreesanth. His bowling rehab programme will start on June 23.
India’s campaign in the six-nation ODI tournament begins with the match against Group B underdogs Hong Kong on June 25 at the National Stadium in Karachi. India and Hong Kong are grouped with Pakistan, while Group A comprises Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates.
