Contrary to the popular belief, Match Referee and adjudicator Farokh Engineer on Monday said Harbhajan Singh slapped India teammate S Sreesanth without any provocation.
Media reports had earlier claimed that Sreesanth did give a piece of his mind to Mumbai Indians batsman Musavir Khote, which irked Harbhajan.
Refuting the claim, Engineer said, “There was no provocation for the incident.”
The former India wicketkeeper, however, announced that Sreesanth had been warned to curb his on-field aggression.
IPL Commissioner and Chairman Lalit Modi too said that though Sreesanth was let off with just a warning, his on-field conduct would be taken seriously.
