Glenn Hoddle won the battle of former England coaches against Terry Venables when his Tottenham Hotspur side outclassed Leeds United 2-0 as Robbie Keane sealed victory with an outstanding goal against his old club on Sunday.
Both teams topped the English Premier League briefly earlier in the season and have found victories hard to come by in recent weeks, but Spurs thoroughly deserved to return to winning ways.
A 12th minute strike from skipper Teddy Sheringham and Keane’s superb goal after 41 minutes, which he scored with an unstoppable shot struck with the outside of his right foot, sealed the points for Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Spurs, without a win in their previous three league matches and comprehensively beaten 3-0 by North London rivals Arsenal a week ago, started the brighter and went ahead after only 12 minutes following excellent approach work by Keane.
