NEW DELHI, JULY 28: A Delhi court on Friday issued a fresh non-bailable warrant (NBW) of arrest against former chief of Swedish arms manufacturers Bofors Company, Martin Ardbo, an accused in the Rs 64 crore Bofors pay-off case, enabling CBI to approach Interpol for issuance of red corner alert against him to secure his presence.Special Judge Ajit Bharihoke issued the open NBW against Ardbo after CBI informed the court that the NBW earlier issued against him had been "executed" but the accused was not physically arrested as the Swedish law did not permit it.The court also extended the NBW against Kuala Lumpur-based Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi till September 29, the next date of hearing, after CBI Counsel U S Prasad submitted that Malaysian authorities were still considering their request for extradition of the accused. The court had issued NBW against Quattrocchi during the investigation of the case itself. However, a fresh NBW was issued against him on November four , after the court took cognisance of CBI chargesheet filed on October 22. Since then, the NBW against Quattrochhi is being extended by the court at the request of the investigating agency.CBI counsel U S Prasad informed the court that summons against Nobel Tech Incorporation, successor of A B Bofors, has been served on its Managing Director Jan Kihlberg through diplomatic channel. However, nobody was present in the court today to represent the company. The court asked the agency to file a detail report regarding Nobel Tech by the next date of hearing.Accused Win Chadha moved an application seeking direction to CBI to hand over certain statements of Swenska Company allegedly recorded by the probe agency during preliminary inquiry into the case in 1988-89. But CBI denied that any such statement was recorded. The court put up the application for September 29 after Chadha's counsel said that there was material suggesting contrary.
