Delhi was as much an intrigue as a matter of fascination for Israeli Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit . In town to attend the Asian ministers’ meet on disaster risk reduction, Sheetrit took time out to sample a slice of Delhi life. Driving past India Gate, he spotted an autorickshaw and asked for a ride. The autos were not the only aspect of Delhi that had him captivated. He was as wide-eyed about the green expanses he came across while driving through New Delhi. “There’s so much vacant land that constructing multistoreyed apartments in these spaces will solve the city’s housing problem,” he said. Wonder if he brought this up during his official interactions with representatives of the Central Government.
