Sourav Ganguly made a quiet return to his hometown this afternoon but said he was excited about joining the Bangalore camp and working with Greg Chappell.

Ganguly has a hectic schedule ahead of him: He sets off for Bangalore tomorrow morning but returns to England for the last championship four-dayer slated for July 17.

The skipper, who has been the talking point over the last few weeks regarding the six-match one-day ban slapped on him by the International Cricket Council (ICC), missed out on the twin fitness and skills camp of the Indian team probables that ended last two days back.

He said he was unaware of the status of the ICC ban. ‘‘Neither the BCCI nor the ICC has updated me on the status of the case’’, he said.
