Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar today held a press conference to clear the confusion within his own party regarding its stance on Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s foreign origin.A week ago, NCP spokesman Vasant Chavan had said that in view of an appeal by Sonia Gandhi for an alliance of like-minded parties to defeat NDA, his party was reviewing its position on Sonia’s foreign origin. The same day, all-India spokesman Praful Patel refuted Chavan’s statement, saying there was no such proposal before his party.‘‘There is absolutely no change in our policy. We have not given up the issue of foreign origin,’’ Pawar said.
