Sonia urges Congress factions in WB to work together

Congress president Sonia Gandhi has asked all factions of her party in West Bengal to work together and asked the leaders to cooperate with new WBPCC chief Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi has asked all factions of her party in West Bengal to work together and asked the leaders to cooperate with new WBPCC chief Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi.

According to a senior leader of the party, Pradip Bhattacharya, Gandhi also urged them to reach out to the people, particularly in rural areas, to spread awareness about development programmes undertaken by the UPA government at the Centre.

She said this during a meeting with state Congress leaders at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport here after arriving from New Delhi this morning.

Gandhi asked the leaders to create awareness of the role played by the party in formulating the National Employment Guarantee Scheme and farmers’ loan waiver scheme of Rs 60,000 crore.

She left for Murshidabad from the airport in a chopper.

During her visit, Gandhi is scheduled to address public rallies at Murshidabad and Malda. She is also scheduled to visit the residence of former Union minister A B A Ghani Khan Chowdhury to pay her respects to the late leader.
