Congress president Sonia Gandhi will announce tomorrow her decision of granting pardon to the Karunakaran camp for having fielded the rebel candidate for the RS elections.

A face-saving formula was evolved at an important meeting between KPCC chief K. Muraleedharan and two AICC observers Ghulam Nabi Azad and R.K. Dhawan and the general-secretary incharge of Kerala affairs, Ambika Soni.

Sources say Muraleedharan has given an assurance to the party high command after talking to his father Karunakaran on phone that nothing will be stated against the A.K. Antony government in the state.

Muraleedharan, who was reportedly made to extract a similar promise from Karunakaran, is expected to issue a formal statement after Sonia’s announcement. In the statement, he will reportedly appeal to all the Congressmen to work unitedly for the party and the government.

After the meeting, Muraleedharan said he was optimistic about the decision Sonia is to take tomorrow.
