Erik Solheim, the Norwegian peace mediator in Sri Lanka, arrived in New Delhi on Friday to update the Indian government on the situation in the island nation following the LTTE’s suicide attack on the Army headquarters in Colombo on April 25. He will meet National Security Advisor MK Narayanan on Saturday. Before leaving for India, Solheim, accompanied by Norwegian peace envoy Jon Hannsen-Bauer, met the Sri Lankan President on Friday in an attempt to arrive at a date for peace talks with the LTTE. Norway’s efforts to revive peace talks between Colombo and the LTTE, which broke down three years ago, have so far yielded nothing.
