Pakistan Hockey Federation overlooked world record holder Sohail Abbas while picking a 20-man squad for this month’s Azlan Shah Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, after the ace drag flicker failed to attend a training camp.
PHF secretary Musarratullah Khan said that Abbas had assured the federation that he would make an appearance in the training camp that was in progress here since early last month. “Sohail Abbas had verbally told the PHF that he would be playing league hockey in Netherlands between April 22 and May 23. “But at the same time he had promised that before leaving for Amsterdam, he would make an appearance in the training camp so that he can be considered for selection.” — PTI
