Six labourers killed in Rajkot gas leak

Six labourers were killed after inhaling poisonous gas in a ceramic unit near Morbi town in Rajkot.

Six labourers were killed after inhaling poisonous gas in a ceramic unit near Morbi town in Rajkot on Saturday, police said.

The incident took place around 0230 hrs, in Comet Ceramic Company when six labourers entered into an underground tank for cleaning, police said adding the six inhaled poisonous gas and became unconscious.

The deceased were admitted in the Morbi Civil Hospital but declared dead, police said. The deceased are identified as Poonamsingh Jogda, Nansingh Kalu, Amra Vasta, Vishnu Kanti, Rupsingh and Adanand Pandit.

Police registered a case of accidental death and further investigation is on, police added.
