TIRUCHIRAPPALLI, JUNE 14: Six people, including two children, were killed and 30 injured when the bus they were travelling in collided with a steel rod laden lorry near Perambalur on the Tiruchirappalli-Chennai high road early Wednesday.

Police said the steel rods in the lorry smashed through the windscreen of the bus and pierced the six persons, killing them on the spot.

Thirty passengers, who were injured, had been hospitalised, police said.
