After removing a sub-Inspector on charges of misbehaving with CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya’s daughter, the police are feigning ignorance about it.

Bhattacharya’s daughter Suchetna, who is also a leader of CPI(M)’s student wing SFI, had alleged yesterday that Tirthankar Mandal, deployed for security in front of the CM’s house, misbehaved with her.

‘‘I have no idea as to what happened in front of the CM’s house,’’ DCP, headquarters, Kuldip Singh, told mediapersons here. Similar was the reaction of DCP, Detective Department, Soumen Mitra. ‘‘The officer was not from DD so I can not tell you anything about it,’’ he said. The Chief Minister isn’t satisfied with the punishment the officer got. ‘‘I am ashamed that such officers still exist. The officer should have received more punishment than what he got,’’ he said.

Police say what actually happened is that Suchetna saw red as the officer didn’t get up as she passed him by. On being asked why he didn’t get up, Mandal said he was not supposed to pay obeisance to the CM’s daughter too. Suchetna then called up the officer-in-charge of Kareya police station and lodged a complaint of misbehaviour aganist Mandal.
